Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information Uncorkd collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. Uncorkd is operated by PikeSquare, LLC.
Questions? Reach us at support@uncorkdwine.app.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Account details supplied via Sign in with Apple: a unique user identifier, a display name, and an email address, which may be Apple's relay address if you chose Hide My Email.
- Profile information: a handle, a display name, an optional avatar photo, and a chosen accent color.
- Check-in content: the wines you log, your notes, ratings, venue if you supply one, date, photos, and friends you tag.
- Friend connections, including the user accounts you've added and pending requests.
- Reactions you leave on friends' check-ins.
1.2 Information generated automatically
- Location, only for venue geocoding to identify the closest nearby locations and their distance from you. When you attach a venue to a check-in, we store that venue's location (from Apple Maps, typically accurate to the venue's address) as part of the check-in record so the location can be displayed on your post. We do not track your location in the background or store readings from your device's GPS.
- Crash reports to help diagnose stability problems. These reports do not include the content of your check-ins.
- Product usage. Basic in-app events, for example which screens you open, when you view the Cellar offer, and when you add to your wishlist, recorded with your account identifier. These help us understand which features are used and where the app needs work. They never include the content of your check-ins, notes, or photos. We do not use them to track you across other apps or websites.
We do not collect your contacts, background location, browsing history outside the app, advertising identifiers, or analytics about how you use third-party apps or websites.
2. How we use information
- To provide the core features of the app: your wine journal, friend feed, reactions, and badges.
- To deliver push notifications for friend requests, accepted requests, and reactions on your check-ins. You can disable these in iOS Settings.
- To understand which features are used and improve the app, using in-app usage events tied to your account.
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability.
- To enforce our Terms of Use and respond to abuse reports.
We do not use your information to serve ads, build advertising profiles, sell to data brokers, or train external AI models.
3. Who can see your information
- Your check-ins, photos, and notes are visible only to friends you have explicitly added in the app. They are not public and are not indexed by search engines.
- Your profile is visible to users who search for your handle to add you as a friend.
- Reactions you leave are visible to the author of the check-in and to that check-in's other viewers.
- Aggregate, non-identifying statistics may appear in marketing materials, but they will never identify an individual user.
4. Where your data is stored
Uncorkd uses Supabase as its backend provider; your check-ins, profile, photos, and friend graph are stored in Supabase's managed PostgreSQL database and object storage. We use Apple's APNs to deliver push notifications, and we do not transmit the contents of your check-ins through APNs.
When you use an AI feature, scanning a wine list or a bottle label, or requesting sommelier tasting notes, the relevant input (the photo you take, the wine you ask about, and your taste preferences) is sent to OpenAI to generate your result. OpenAI processes this only to return your result; it is not used to train OpenAI's models, and is retained only transiently for abuse monitoring. AI features are optional: you choose when to use them.
We use Sentry to collect crash and error diagnostics (stack traces, device model, OS version), associated with your account identifier so recurring issues can be traced. Crash reports never include the content of your check-ins.
5. How long we keep your data
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account from Settings, your auth record, profile, check-ins, photos, ratings, notes, venue records, reactions, friendships, and account-tied object storage photos are removed. Deletion is permanent.
6. Your rights
You can correct your profile and delete your account, which permanently removes your data, directly inside the app at any time, free of charge. To access or receive a copy of your data, email support@uncorkdwine.app and we'll respond within 30 days at no cost; Cellar members can also export their data directly in the app. For any other request under laws such as the GDPR, CCPA, or CPRA, contact us at the same address.
7. Children
Uncorkd is not directed to children. You must be at least the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction, 21 in the United States, to use the app. If we learn that we've collected information from a person below that age, we will delete it.
8. Security
Sign-in is handled by Apple. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our backend provider. Access to the production database is restricted to authorized operators. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever experience a breach that affects you, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The Last updated date at the top reflects the current version. If we make material changes, we'll surface a notice in the app before the change takes effect.
